About Me

My photo
Miami , FL, United States
Born and raised in Miami, Lissette's passion isn't only enjoying the lovely south Florida weather and beaches, but also traveling which leads to new life experiences. She has a degree in Cardiovascular Technology and later she graduated from Miami Dade College with a degree in Television and Films. Lissette won the coveted title of Miss Florida USA 2011 and went on to represent her home state at the nationally televised pageant Miss USA, where she placed in the top 15.   Since the tender age of 5 she also enjoyed fixing cars with her dad -- classic cars to be specific. Her passion was almost immediate, as she was able to see the beauty that a good ole' classic bestows. Working on her first car a 1972 Chevy Bel-Air with her dad, it only got bigger and better. Now she's on a new journey for a new title, MOMMY! As Lissette documents her journey through her pregnancy, feel free to leave her tips!

December closing 2010

As December began the Holiday season was felt through out the air. Beginning with Hanukkah, Coral Gables was celebrating. Then the Christmas tree was being completed for another great festive night. I love this season. Santas Enchanted Forest is up and running in South Florida if you have a chance to check it out, and the wonderful Disney Parades are also amazing.

Dec 4th I had the pleasure of driving south to Marathon Key, where I spent the night and was a guest of Honor for the Habitat for Humanity of the Middle Keys Gala. Alongside Jon Landau, producer of Avatar, we hosted the night, a great fundraiser for a wonderful cause. Located on mile marker 53 D'Asign Center was kind enough to hold the celebration for the Gala.
Raising money for families new homes was the theme of night. It was brought to everyone's attention that the Keys has no more land to build on, but that didn't stop the guests from donating towards new projects. For future homes they will be building on lots that are going to be donated by Marathon Key. New homes will continue to erect from Habitat for Humanity, this fluke has not stop them. It was a wonderful event with locals and even out of towners as far as Los Angeles to Boston, all of which were not going to give up getting away to the Florida keys, which is truly paradise. I'm already making plans for a future in the keys, lol, can't stop setting goals for myself.
This picture is from the backyard from the house I spent the night in Marathon. Tranquility Bay Resorts were excited to have Miss Florida USA staying with them.

From the Florida Keys, I drove back up to Miami, bright and early, to spend the afternoon with the Miami Dolphins. I was invited to walk the orange carpet and get interviewed, spend some time in the Ford Sideline Lounge and watch the cheerleaders practice, then off to watch the game in Club Level Seats. Front row seat on Club Level was the way to go, on this Sunday Football Game.

Thanks to LauRen Merola for the wonderful time at SunLife Stadium. Couldn't have been a better Sunday, well maybe if Henne didn't throw an interception within the last 2 minutes, causing us the game, it would've been a great Sunday. lol.
Still plenty of places to go and do in this December....

Counting down

Well it would be easier to just write as I go, but I go so much that sit down time is usually time to catch up, do homework, or prepare for the next day.

It's been 4 months since winning the title of Miss Florida USA 2011 and let me tell you it has been none stop. Yes it's true, it's a full time job with great benefits. Meeting wonderful people, going to great events, and the charities have been amazing. Basking in the title and doing all these wonderful things are the best.

I can only say that from here I can only take that next step on the ladder and become Miss USA. Will you join me? :) Of course you're invited to the big show!

pictures pictures pictures....we need pictures. Well you can also follow me on my fan page on Facebook. I tend to post more up to date events on there, it's just easier to text in a post there.

The holidays are coming and there will be many events revolving the holidays keep a look out for the parades, the events, and the charity events that will also be so very important in this time of year. A time of year when we all look back and the previous months, we start giving thanks, realize that we are fortunate and that there are many families out there that need us. Keep an eye out, the Miami Heat have a wonderful Thanksgiving Tradition of feeding the homeless. Hollywood Jaycees will be making baskets for needy families, and Toy for Tots is up and running with toy collections for children.

I'm thinking of my dress for Miss USA...and suggestions?

Official Bob Lasky Photo Shoot with Miss Florida USA

My Official photo shot with an amazing photographer, Bob Lasky of Photography by Lasky.
During my time there I got to enjoy my company with Bob along with Mary Lou Gravit and Esteban on the camera. !
Bob´s history in the film industry is a resume filled with many artists that were very well known around the world. My favorite artist he has shot was Elvis Presley! I am a huge fan, and upon seeing Elvis' picture on the wall shot by Bob about 2 months before Elvis' death was the highlight of my shoot. He has many pictures on the walls at the studio, and seeing the past Miss Florida USAs made it feel surreal. Now it has sunk in, but it still sometimes feels like an indescribable feeling.

2010 Coconut Grove Bed Race 9.05.mov

A wonderful day in Coconut Grove, Miami, FL. Not only was the weather at high summer levels, but me legs were cramping up from the running. Kinda wish I would've taken a few bananas to prevent that. None the less it was a great time with the wonderful friends from ImpactMiami and Pollo Tropical marketing. We arrived mid morning to sign up, then it was breakfast at GreenStreet Cafe with the team and Grant JR. Soon after the parade of beds began which we got to show off our RACEBED to the crowd of people (over 4 thousand in the audience). After a few minutes the races began. Then day slowly became more interesting as we advance to the final round. The Teen girls arrived to watch the show as well. Looking forward to next year to perfect the bed, for a smoother race =)

During my trip to Tampa, El Centro a local Hispanic newspaper, brought me into their central office for an interview. As we met Gonzalo Paez in the lobby, we went up stairs to the offices.
They were really looking forward to meeting with me, after indulging in their Pollo Tropical lunches we sat down for a great interview. Not only did we talk about my goals and aspirations as a Hispanic Miss Florida USA, but on my family history. Speaking about my family always gets the water works going for me, but it felt great that they were interested in knowing my true history.
I look forward to speaking them before leaving to Vegas for Miss USA 2011.
Having lunch with my Tel Air family.
